Briefly: I just read that a part in an audition demanded blue suede shoes but none were available, so a clever friendly costume designer painted a pair of golf shoes blue and hey presto.
Having looked up an image for blue suede shoes, there doesn’t seem to be a standard (when we were kids we assumed they were “brothel creeper” style) and I certainly don’t have a picture of the ones in queston above. But I guess that they did. I didn’t find out if the part was secured by the shoes or not.
Golf Boots All The Rage – Have You Seen Them On The Course?
Having just seen the Adidas Mudrunner golf boot, wenw seethe Stuburt Winter Boot. The same arguments about wet and dry apply.
Golf Shoes Tech & Spec: EVA/Rubber outsole for less weight and comfort/Velcro strap fastening system for ease use/Stuburt brand cleats/synthetic leather upper/1 year waterproof guarantee
Available for sale at about £50
Not sure which is the better looking. They’re all black though aren’t they. Why should a boot only look right in black?
The Duleth News Tribune ran an obituary and quite calmy dropped in the following paragraph. A great bit of sang froid.
“She was so proud of her Irish heritage and instilled strong values in her children (and they in theirs) who all know from Mom the importance of living life to its fullest. She worked hard and played hard and loved golf, bridge, reading, an exceptional glass of wine, traveling, and perhaps most of all, Snickers. Incidentally, she will go to the great beyond wearing her golf shoes.”
Catharine “Kay” Harris Johnson was a resident of Duluth and Saint Paul County in Minnesota.
These golf shoes come from William Hunt, English designer, subtitled “Saville Row” but resident in Chalk farm, NW London (At least the on-line shop is). SoI don’t know as I don’t shop in Saville Row.
The Only Golf Slip On?
Anyway they have three styles of golf shoes: Arnie with kiltie (in white brogue or croc print black & burgundy); The Slipper; or The Jack. The one on the left are the Slipper – possibly the only one out there. Golf Shoes Blog hasn’t seen one before – other than plastic-rubber ones.
Only £95 at the William Hunt store (though the crossed out price is £240) as are the other lace ups, like those seen on the right. There’s no more spec on the web site.
There’ll be enough talk everywhere about Tiger Woods and a lot of it will be in reference to his sponsorships and advertising. I want to look at it a different way, following a sage commentator on the radio this morning who was stressing the hope that it’s not an opportunity for prurience but a chance to re-evaluate winning at sport and what it means. As a coach this guy would hate to see young sportsmen being armed with Tiger’s book. He didn’t want players to be like that. And what this latest news story shows us (or illustrates) is about the man and his happiness. What is sport about if someone as good as Tiger has so little fun.
So what would I like to see? A total reversal in the TW philosophy. Give up the sour puss and become more human. Even give up winning and competing: Surely he’s played enough great golf for us to see. Go and become a different type of hero – a re-launched model - being a real person and showing some joyfulness.
He’s got enough money and kudos for a lifetime and who knows, a new life in the reverse position could be both a new lease of life and quite likely a profitable one too. Tiger’s life cold be like the proverbial game of soccer – “A game of two halves”
PS1 Having thought a bit more about Tiger and the above it’s worth saying that although he is not known as the cuddliest of guys, at least he’s not too freaky (which he could have been). Compare and contrast him to Michael Jackson.
PS2 Having since read that he has the support of his sponsors remains intact (because those who follow him are not the easiest to shock with extra-mariatl concerns) you probby conclude that he needs to do nothing but win to continue to earn. But as I said above, he’s got enough money and he has the opportunity to re-write the second half of his life. he couldone day become more loved as well as respected.
We’ve seen a few pairs of golf shoes/boots recently. To be honest it makes sense: However good and water-proof or water-resistant or water-tight your golf shoes are, if you don’t have leather socks on and the grass is longer than two or three inches then you can still get wet!
The style is described as a “demi-boot” by Adidas. At £55-ish they seem a fair buy.
Golf Shoe tech&Spec:highly cushioned ankle collar/insole in Geofit inner/anatomically placed foam padding in the heel, tongue, collar and footbed for pressure distribution & for fit, cushioning & comfort/Outsole
in SBT (Stable Base Technology) sole unit combining a 2nd density of EVA foam/ a wider heel and forefoot base to create stable base for stability (surprise!), support and comfort/2-year warranty/softspikes
Maybe this guy will make you one of his other great looking shoes into a golf shoe if you prefer and he does makes great looking shoes. It’s just a shame that the golf shoe is a bit less pointy and attractive than just about every other shoe that he makes. See them at the link below.
I had an email from an Alec (not sure how smart!) who suggested that I look at his friend’s (ie client’s) site – Duiv Shoes. It’s in what I can only assume is Dutch. I put this through the translator software and the guy (I think who makes the shoes) Bart Duivenoorden comes out as “Bart pigeons resorts” which I don’t think is a good translation! But it made me laugh. So the problem is that I don’t really know much more about these shoes! Prices are on application.
Beware Translations: Bart Duivenoorden is de 3e generatie schoenmeesters van de familie Duivenoorden becomes Bart pigeons Resorts is the 3rd generation of shoe masters of the family pigeons resorts.
You may or may not have noticed that we now have a little “SHOP” bit on Golf Shoes Blog – one for the US and one for the UK – both run by Amazon. The good thing about it is that I also get to see golf shoes that I don’t normally or often see elsewhere.
Like these Dunlop Max Golf shoes which at £24.99 seem a pretty good buy as the latest addition to Dunlop’s golf shoe range.
Tech & Spec:Upper of high quality leather and synthetic water resistant materials/padded textile inner/compressed EVA midsole with a TPU plate for extra stability/changeable all weather performance spikes/comes with a Dunlop golf shoe bag
And they look pretty good too in the traditional mould.
As previously seen on Golf Shoes Blog as the shoes of Miguel Angel Jiminez… andnow here’s a little video promo with some extra info about these traditionally hand made (and made in Ialy) shoes,
If you want to have a pair of shoes that’s a little bit more special…
Dawgs Golf is showing these new golf shoes and I like the look of them IF you want to go this direction. I think they look better than Crocs (see earlier mentions – but now they’re bite are we going to seesome developments). Before the Crocs didn’t look like golf shoes but these Dawgs do actually look like they were made for that purpose.
They say… “Extremely light weight/Rubber outsole with soft spikes/ Non-marking/Super lightweight/Antimicrobial/Can be worn without socks/Odor resitant/Massaging foot bed/Arch support/Easy to clean”
Mens, womens & kids variations available in various colours. $50. Some more pictures on Golf Shoes Blog to follow..
