Running Shoes, Walking Shoes or golf Shoes?
From GolfWRX.com’s forum: Anyone know where you might buy Shingo Katayama’s new Asics golf shoes he is wearing at Augusta?
Well, Golf Shoes Blog isn’t sure that they are golf shoes… The shoes are certainly ASICS – a Japanese sports shoe company (of long and revered history). They have running shoes and walking shoes which loosely share the heel design and the broad “look”. The two pairs shown here are both Gel Kayano – running and walking respectively – though the heel on the running shoes look more like the ones worn by Katayama.
I reckon that the golf shoes worn by Katayama at Augusta this week are either the running shoes or specially adapted versions of same. None of the Asics’ websites have any news or info on a golf shoe (though I don’t read Japanese). If I were them I’d be shouting about them while interest is high…
Asics design is certainly unique and well marked by the criss-cross star/stripe across the main body of the shoes. Their website states “The stripe design featured on the sides of ASICS shoes is a trademark of ASICS Corporation and is a registered trademark in most countries of the world”. At least when you see them on the TV you can tell which make shoe it is – which is more than you can say for most golf shoes which are nigh impossible to identify!
I missed the pair with the Japanese flag. Any one see those?
