Shingo Golf Shoes Not Yet Available in West!
I was right! The golf shoes that Shingo Katayama wore in the Masters were prototypes – according to the best info available anywhere.
I have been busy keeping a focused eye out for any info on these golf shoes and although there is some minor conflict, it’s pretty clear that they are not available YET. No doubt they will be but it seems that it won’t be in the immediate future. What a waste of the Masters momentum!
A little bit more on the background since my last news on these (are they) golf shoes (or are they not)?… Aparently it was cricket players (in Austrailia) wearing Asics’ “GEL Bowral” shoes on the golf course. Obviously they were seen by others (easy to imagine given the interest they have had at the masters) and they wanted the so called new Asics golf shoe, even though it didn’t exist. According to one source, Asics, seeing the demand, put out the “GEL Albatross” which are available in Asia and Austrailia. Something must exist because there’s this picture!
The picture was seen at tourspecgolf.com where they had had 20 enquiries already and are busy working on getting them as soon as possible to sell to the American market. They didn’t believe that they would be available for some time. One of the informed readers/writers on their forum (I think from Asics but I’m not 100%) said that Shingo’s shoes were prototypes.
