But The Golf Shoes Aren’t Quite As Cutting Edge
I’ve been wondering about Oakley Golf Shoes for a while… are they anything to do with the branded sunglasses of the same name. How naive of me: Of course they are – who’d not take the brand equity from one to the other and build the brand and importantly take over more of the world and get the SALES! But which came first? We shall see… (See PS)
The golf shoes shown here (Special Edition “Superdrive”) are the top of the range on the Oakley Golf-Shoes-to-Sunglasses site. Here you’ll find golf shoes from $55 to $130 for this special edition – the same price as the not special edition! The prices seem to be the same at other retailers. (I guess they need to be, otherwise they’d be cannibalising their own wholesale sales.)
The limited edition has a White/Gold styling that makes them more distinctive than the rest of the range. SUPERDRIVE golf shoes have waterproof full-grain leather and moisture wicking liners and a waterproof membrane (Two year limited warranty on waterproofing.) Trademarked NET SHAPE™ STABILITY for support and control and finished with an Ortholite™ performance foot bed. With Fast Twist® TriSport® Tri-Grip cleats
PS: According to Wikipedia… “Oakley was started by Jim Jannard in 1975 in his garage with an initial investment of $300″ selling motorcycle grips – unlike other grips riders had seen at the time. But they were mostly invisible and the name went unknown until in 1980, Jannard developed a pair of goggles (O-Frame). With the visible logo the brand gained some recognition. In 1984, they introduced sunglasses made of plastic with removable lenses then worn by Tour de France winner Greg LeMond among others. They then went into sunglasses big time. It doesn’t say anything aboout when they started in golf shoes. if you want to read more about the sunglasses side go to Spectacles Blog.

The Golf shoes are nice. It’s quality is best and lost for many years.
