Golf Shoe To Spearhead Ecco 2009 Men’s Range
Claiming to be the ”golf shoe that showcases a standard of excellence and technical sophistication unique to ECCO”, the new Ultra range launches this Febraury and the golf shoes will be show-cased on Tour in 2009 by Australian PGA Tour star Aaron Baddeley among others.
Ecco says that it’s special feature is the ”perfect” anatomical last that encapsulates the foot. The Ultra Performance golf shoes combine a cushioned, three-component insole unit and a PU Lite wrap-around system for “unparalleled” comfort and midsole support. What they don’t say is that this side “wrap” element is incorporated into the laces, which I’d say if I were them as this seems a worthwhile feature andmust be integral to their stability claim. But I guess this sounds too much like English for Ecco who like their jargon!
With a lightweight outsole and “stability islands” made from “soft density flex areas” and “hard density traction zones”, they say that it provides serious players with maximum stability, traction and flexibility. With Q-Lock cleats.
Ultra Performance is available in three colours; black/white/buffed silver (as left below) with a suggested retail price of £150.
Do we like th look of them (supposing the performance is there)? Well I think they look new and “substantial” in a modern way. And I like the silver. The toe box looks generous, though Ecco do not comment on this. Marks out of ten for looks… 7 1/2
