The Oakley Clean Tye Golf Shoe: Why That Name?
I did ask the question about these golf shoes and I have answered it myself several times now about Oakley. [1] Yes they are related to the Spectacles – which have a genesis in motor-scrambling gloves form a small garage in california 
just 30 years ago before they grew, bought RayBans and then got bought out themselves (see www.spectaclesblog.com for more info). [2] Yes they make slightly different golf shoes. A lot that I’ve seen are ladies. The styling always makes them look slightly longer and ore elegant… until these ones.

But no mention of the odd naming protocol. A sister golf shoe is the Bow Tye (as seen right) which is quite funny (as in Bow Tie) but it doesn’t explain the TYE spelling. And the golf shoes themselves are lumpy and “butch” not the elegance we saw previously. maybe the Oakley market – fashion conscious – didn’t want the style of the motor launch but rather the style of the university.
