The Oakley Clean Tye Golf Shoe: Why That Name?

I did ask the question about these golf shoes and I have answered it myself several times now about Oakley.  [1] Yes they are related to the Spectacles – which have a genesis in motor-scrambling gloves form a small garage in california oakley clean tye golf shoe. b&Wjust 30 years ago before they grew, bought RayBans and then got bought out themselves (see www.spectaclesblog.com  for more info).  [2] Yes they make slightly different golf shoes.  A lot that I’ve seen are ladies.  The styling always makes them look slightly longer and ore elegant… until these ones.

Listen to this blurb… “Oakley was created for world-class athletes, those who see the limits of possibility as just another challenge. Their dedication drives the brand to look beyond the conventional ideas of industry standards. It’s in Oakley’s DNA to identify problems, create inventions, and wrap those inventions in art. And simply to make things better than anyone thought possible. Decades of Oakley innovation have been awarded more than 540 patents that elevate physics to the level of art. Technologies transcend sports to enhance the lives of consumers, and more than 110 countries now enjoy a full array of market-leading products including premium sunglasses, goggles, prescription eyewear, apparel, footwear and accessories. These products represent Oakley’s commitment to excellence – a passion that redefines what is possible for those who defy their own limits”.

oakley bow tye golf shoe. brownBut no mention of the odd naming protocol.  A sister golf shoe is the Bow Tye (as seen right) which is quite funny (as in Bow Tie) but it doesn’t explain the TYE spelling.  And the golf shoes themselves are lumpy and “butch” not the elegance we saw previously.  maybe the Oakley market – fashion conscious – didn’t want the style of the motor launch but rather the style of the university.
