What Colour Golf Shoes
I picked this up from the Whittier Daily News (California)… about Scott McCarron comment on Phil Mickelson – not that he noticed that he’d eagled the first hole to grab sole possession of the lead at the Northern Trust Open… but thathis belt was the wrong colour – or was it that his golf shoes were the wrong colour?
“All I noticed about Phil was that he’s wearing a white belt with black shoes,” McCarron said, laughing. “I mean, somebody, somebody please give him a citation. Mom always said the belt matched the shoes.”
Quoting from the Whittier News “Mickelson wore black pants and a black shirt with white trim and complemented the outfit with a white belt and black shoes. His fashion faux pas was the least of his worries. After sinking a 28-foot eagle putt on the first hole, Mickelson struggled to find his groove. He had four bogeys a day after shooting a bogey-free 63 on Thursday.”
But the story of the belt/golf shoes has been all over the media (the belt foremost to be honest but hey, this isn’t golf belt blog!) Sign on San Diego said “Doing his best Black Knight/Gary Player sartorial impression, Mickelson went basic black, with a wide white belt and white cap”
So what’s the rule? It seems to me that the outfit was perfectly well co-ordinated (given the shirt highlights and the cap!) – black & white. I’d say that was OK – It wasn’t that the belt didn’t match the shoes… it was just the belt!
Brown THOUGH would be quite out of the question!
