"I Cant Get The "Quick Change Spikes Out" From My Golf Shoes

Golf Shoes Blog Is Asked The Question…

Golf Shoes Blog was sent a comment following a post on  Walter Hagen golf shoes with so called “quick change” cleats saying “I cant get the “quick change” spikes out. The shoes are not that old that they should be stuck in”.

To be honest I’m not surprised.  I just took delivery of some new golf shoes to test drive and I had a difficult time getting the spikes out.  What’s worse was that the golf shes were supplied with no key. Luckily I had one.  Even with this (and I  think I was lucky because the key fitted the particular cleats/spike, as they do vary) it was very hard to get them out and that was before they were worn and bedded in.

So What’s The Golf Shoes Answer?

Maybe it’s a universal problem.  Any one else had the same problem.  Any manufacturere want to give us golfers any tips about how to get them out.

Easy – Get a pair of sturdy long nose pliers – put the points into the two holes in the spike – push down to get a firm hold and twist forcefully anti clockwise. Same principle as using the supplied key which cant however provide the same twisting force unless you have gorilla thumbs.

About getting spikes out. I read that if you soak the sole of your golf shoes (not too deep but deep enough to get the sole and spike in the water) for five to ten minutes, then it’s remarkably more easy. Try it.

I also had trouble getting the spikes out of my Hagen Euros. it was steel rather than plastic,. do either one work or just steel?
