Golf Shoes vs Wet feet

Golf shoes these days do keep your feet dry

My golf shoes do not keep my feet dry.  They have cracks!  But even before they had cracks they weren’t so good at keeping water out.  If you think about it, that’s quite a failing  for a golf shoes that you wear all year round and not being a fair weather golfer, oftern worn in wet grass let alone rain.  My old shoes and my slightly newer old shoes both get water logged.  That can lead to cold as well as wet and what you don’t want on the course is misery and discomfort.

But it’s all changed now – one shoe even carries the clue in it’s name; the DryJoy!  Staying with leather if you prefer, as I would (but not always for exact reasoning and allowing fo some prejudice), there are plenty if not all well-known branded golf shoes who claim to be water resistant.  Of course we’d like full water-proofing but that’s probably something to do with trading standards!  ”Water resistant” will do.

ECCO Women's Casual Swing Golf ShoeBut the features don’t stop with the leather they extend inside – wicking is mentioned a lot today.  Breathable water-proof liners can be found in addition.

Here we see as an example, the water-resistant leather Ecco Casual Swing golf shoe. Anti-wet features include: padded collar/tongue, ghillie* style lace up closure and a removable insole with moisture wicking and fast-drying Comfort Management System.

*A real Ghillie shoe has no tongue!  The spec. for the Eco shoe clais a padded tongue – but you cannot strictly have both ghillie laces and a tongue!
