Golf Shoes Seasonality

When Do People Look For A New Golf Shoe?

golf shoes search seasonal

For those looking for new golf shoes (on the internet at least) there’s a very strong pattern.  See the graph attached which is actually from 2008 – but the pattern is identical every year.

The lows are in October (now) until January with a little spike (no golf shoe pun intended) in mid December (must be Xmas shopping) and then a steady climb through February/March/April to the first peak in mid April. Then a little dip and a climb back to the second golf shoe peak in mid June; and then a slow decline back to October.

It has to be said that this pattern is most marked in the US where it looks like they’re fair-weather golfers!  In Australia the pattern is pretty level all year and in the UK and most of Europe the pattern in also much flatter.  But the truth may also be that the two mid year peaks are also the Masters (April) and the US Open (June).  It’s like not being able to get a tennis court during Wimbledon – when suddenly everyone remembers the sport!

The top searches within this are first Nike Golf Shoes, second FootJoy Golf Shoes and third Adidas Golf Shoes.  Even if FootJoy sell more golf shoes, I think that the Nike golf market are more computer literate which explains the ordering!

I’ve mentioned golf shoes searches on Google before – see that article too.
