FootJoy SYNR-G; What’s So Special About This Golf Shoe?

The FootJoy SYNR-G Golf Shoes Have Had A Fair Amout of Cover…

… but we’ve not really,  at Golf Shoes Blog, looked at some of the finer detail.  We’ve reported quite a few postings on these golf shoes (for example like no golf shoes post which includes an informative video) (and talked about who wears them and mentioned them many times) but I’ve not done the true Golf Shoes Blog  ”Tech&Spec” job on them.

footjoy-synr-g-brown-white-golf-shoeFirstly – looks:  They are available in three colourways – black (smooth/lizard print), white & black (smooth/lizard print respectively) and white & brown (smooth/lizard print respectively) PLUS white/white available in USA.  The tops are ECL leather (which stands for “Extreme Comfort Leather”, a new proprietary waterproofing system, developed in conjunction with Pittards of England. It’s said to be 30% softer than earlier  FootJoy leather and imporatntly has a 2 year waterproof warranty.  They come in half sizes in the middle of the range and big sizes (not extra big). The black and black/white shoes come in wide too.  Pictured here is the brown & white, retailing in the UK at £140 direct and $220 in the US.  I’d go for this colour choice but that’s personal.

Inside the shoe it has “Memory Foam” collar and tongue, which remembers the shape of your feet and should add to the comfort and stability factors.  There is a full lining in leather, for better breathing than a synthetic fabric.

Then the SYNR-G “HeelLoc Zone” holds your heel for improved harnessing and reduced friction.

Then the confusing bit… the Laser Last, which is a  “composite of thousands of digital scans of the FootJoy Laser Fitting System”.  Goodness knows what that means. But I read another review of the specification elsewhere and they couldn’t explain this either, just (like me) relying on the quoted (meaningless) blurb fromFootJoy!

The golf shoe has a full rounded toe box with a slightly narrow heel – as the best golf shoes are supposed to have.

The rest of the spec becomes dense but basically gives good cushioning and stability for walking and swinging. (EVA midsole /in coordination with the G-Force TPU (thermoplastic urethane) Tri-DensityOutsole/Dual OptiFlex Technology/Tri-Lateral Stability frame/ The Perforated AlloyStability Bridge

I have only heard good things about these golf shoes.  They must be OK then!
