Golf Shoes Blog Passes On The Greenpeace Message…
I’ve received a campaign from Greenpeace that may be relevant to our golf shoes; so I’m happy to make you aware of this as my small bit. According to the film which you can watch here, rainforest destruction is responible for more greenhouse gasses than all the cars and airplanes put together. And one of the key factors in rainforest destruction is the beef and leather industry. Greenpeace says that none of the major brands of sports wear shoes (and we’re familiar with them at Golf Shoes Blog) “Adidas, Reebok, Nike, Timberland and even Clarks” can guarantee that they do not buy leather “from the companies responsible”.
What can you do – if you care to? Write to the companies that you respect and ask them if they can guarantee their leather does not come from areas/companies responsible. They will, according to Greenpeace, come back with a blurb answer - but they cannot guarantee their leather and at least if you write, they know more people care.
