Another NO GOLF SHOES Victory

A new Golf Shoes story for our No Shoes section!

In the Jack Spear Martha’s Vinyard Open two players, Mick Herron (pictured left, of Bay Pointe Country Club, MA) and Tom Johnson, had shot 69’s and faced a play-off.  As it was late and dark there was to be a simple nearest the pin shoot out on the nearest par 3 to decide the Open victory.

Because of the delay, the players in the clubhouse had started to get out of their golf gear and Herron had taken his golf shoes off.  Did he put them back on?  No, he teed off barefoot, hit a wedge to 20 foot from the pin (Johnson’s shot is not recorded but was obviously the worse for wearing his shoes!) and Herron had it!

Sam Snead of course was quoted in reports.

Thanks to the Cape Cod Times on line for this story!
