Golf Shoes Blog received this note and if it’s genuine, it’s terrible!*

“I bought a pair of walter hagen golf shoes in Sept. last year I have only worn a about 12 times and the whole sole has come unglued I took them back to Dicks they said contact the manufacturer and they would send me a new pair my problem is I can not find a contact thru all my searches”

“I hope you can help, thanks” So wrote Mark from somewhere in the ether…

Well as far as we’re concerned at Golf Shoes Blog, all Walter Hagen shoes are made for and sold by Dick’s and therefore you’re never going to find the manufacturer.  It’s what we called eother OEM (original equipment manufacturer, “own brand” or badged! (When I was in retail.)

So unless you work for Dicks you’re not going to get to the manufacturer.  Good luck.

*Being cynical, I wonder if the comment is from a rival: In which case apologies all round.

We just had the following email “Dear Tate, I don’t know if you have done this kind of thing in the past, but I recently saw a MasterCard commercial with Boo Weekly and Arnold Palmer (you couldn’t miss the spot it if you saw the US Open this past weekend). Arnold Palmer is wearing some really unique looking black and white golf shoes in the ad and I can’t seem to find them anywhere on the internet, or even identify what make they are”.

The ad/commercial is on You Tube if you missed it – some of us didn’t see the US open – shame on our heads). At the moment we don’t know what golf shoes they are either but will have a look around. First thoughts [1] they’re not golf shoes as such, or [2] they’re made especially for AP and we’ll never know or maybe [3] they’re unusual or older Michael Toschi golf shoes – as their golf shoes most have this look, shape-wise – or similar make of old…

Arnold Palmer has associations with Callaway, but I don’t think that includes golf shoes (Callaway don’t seem to include their own golf shoes – either on their main websites or at trade/golf shows).  None of thier golf shoes look quite like this.

We’re still thinking…

Firstly belated season’s greetings form Golf Shoes Blog.  I’ve had a bit of a rest from golf shoes and blogging for the season and I’m as rusty at this now as I was in my two rounds of golf  that I played over the season.

I gave my eldest son my Callaway XTT golf shoes as he had none and he and I played round in our respective Callaways – me in my Hyperbolics.

Our shoes were muddy – unlike the picture here when they were new – but inside dry and comfortable. He loves them.

After Xmas we had a bigger family game – Grandpa, two sons and my son.  Me and grandpa lost!  Talking of lost, he has, since I posted about them on Golf Shoes Blog, lost his Stuburts with mismatched laces.

So now that I’m back in the seat I have to think of wht to do with Golf Shoes Blog.  How can it be better in 2010?  Less waffle and more golf shoe reviews or maybe mor waffle?  Who knows…  I know that I have a lot of news-releases in my inbox to digest and post about.

And what about you?  Fancy some new golf shoes or do you have some golf shoes that you want to tell us about?  Go on – make my new year…

 These golf shoes are very Paula Creamer.  But when you look closely – and past the golf shoes and up a bit – you notice the slightly hirsuit leg.  Is it the leg of the golf-fashion icon Ms creamer herself? Obviously they’re her golf shoes but…

Maybe there’s a new product to be endorsed (and used) in Immac or other similar hair removal products. Personally I can’t bring myself to believe that this is Paula.

Oh and the golf shoes are smart too but that was’t the thrust of this slightly unkind piece today!

Having a limit to what you can carry or what you can travel with is the subject of  golf girl’s latest post on her blog – Golf Girl’s Diary – about her golf shoes (and her club choice – when travelling with the same weight retriction).  Self procaimed fun, flirty & fashionable, Patricia (for it is she), took her Puma “Black & Whites” as she calls them.  Golf Cat’s they look like to me(???)

(PS. Tantalisingly, also on this site, is a great picture of Halle Berry putting in bare feet which would be great for our NO Golf Shoes section: But I’m reluctant to nick it as it’s an agency pic and I can’t find it on my service!  Still looking though…)

Now he’s been raising eyebrows with his blue golf shoes!  Actor Bill Murray, playing in a pro-am (pro-celebrity?) tournament has already hit a neighbour with a tee-shot on the first day and he’s playing very badly, he says.

He also borrowed a lady’s sunglasses shaped like golf balls.  She looked better in them.

But what we care about is the golf shoes.

Where did he get the bright blue golf shoes.  We’ll come back to you on that one…

You may remember that I said I might actually get some new golf shoes – see article on Stuburt Hidro – which despite their great (ie good value) price ticket look like just the shoes for me.  (Brown & white not B&W as pictured here.) I am now talking to Stuburt about these and the funny thing is that the charming man there can’t believe that I do this and don’t have any other golf shoes than hand-me-downs:  See right column Who’s Golf Shoes.  (I won’t tell him that I’ve earnt $17.56 in six months doing this!)

The other really good thing is that I might get some more pictures from them direct which will be a blessing.  They have great looking shoes and great photos but I always feel like I’m stealing from them!

So here’s to further discussions with those kind people… the best of British!

There’s a lady photographer and golfer called “Red Dirt Girl” on Flickr  (or Allison, but that doesn’t sound as wild west to a guy from Old Hampshire).  And Red Dirt Girl’s FootJoy golf shoes are so lovely she has to ask  ”How’s a girl supposed to putt with cute shoes like this distracting her?”

They are great looking golf shoes as seen in Allison’s photo (about as black & white as you can get for a colour photo) and they are obviously fondly pictured …and worn.  “Ahhh….” Allison says, “those are my Foot Joy Europas. I LOVE them!  I took that picture after a round of golf at the Williston Golf Course in Vermont.” 

Now that isn’t the wild west – it sounds like New England to this Old Englander!

I found this pair of golf shoes on Flickr a website which is mostly about the pictures – so the commentary is non-existent so we don’t know who where or why!  The photographer is Sarah, so I thank her for the great image and I guess she made the cake too*.  Most of her photos (all?) are cakes so I imagine it’s a cake commission for a golfer*.  Was the brief that they should be so dirty?*

The comments following  the photo are mostly cake related but it has given me a link to a group who care about great golf photos, so I’m off there now!

*PS. Yes Sarah made the cake/Yes it was a commission by a wife for a golfer/Yes the brief was that they should be that dirty!

We played twice in the dull days between Christmas &  New Year at our secret golf course, high on the hills in the windswept countryside.  The dew and frost didn’t get enough sunshine or daylight hours to defrost between night-times so it was almost a White Christmas scene.  But it was cold.  

On New Year’s Eve, between us and our visitors in mismatched & some borrowed shoes – from trainers to oversized 1980’s golf shoes to Doctor Martins (which fared best overall!) with none, one and two pairs of socks, we suffered various degrees of cold and chill.  We only played nine holes but if any of us could count nine toes that they could feel by the end they were the odd-man-out!.

Fingers were cold too with a left hand golf glove and a regular gloved right hand and some in ski gloves – but that’s not within the scope of golf shoes blog.

Pictured are tmy brother’s DM’s which did so well.  If only they’d had sipkes!
