My cousin mailed me while I was away, asking if I’d seen the latest Poulter golf shoes… Of course Ian Poulter being what he is, he’s been on Golf Shoes Blog many times with mostly pink shoes but also with his 27 pairs.  He likes golf shoes.  I couldn’t get to do a piece on these new golf shoes as I was stuck in Dubai and Rome…

Noticeable in his new shoes, which the FootJoy blog tells us, “Ian Poulter unveiled an all-new FJ ICON pattern at the Masters that will be available in the coming months. Ian was integral in bringing this style to market and was the first player to wear these new performance shoes in competition”.

They say that the new “wave” pattern is “sharp, sophisticated, full of interesting detail and is beautiful in a monochrome color pattern or with a variety of available patent leather accent colors”.  Of course the shole idea of the FJ Icons is that you choose the colour (that’s why IP has so many pairs)> There’llbe more details from FootJoy about these new golf shoes in the next few weeks and months.

And thanks cos, for bring these to my attention.  FotJoy ought to send you a pair to sport around Sussex.

The FootJoy LoPro Golf Shoe as mentioned on Golf Shoes Blog is on sale at The Discount Golf Store for £49.99 in various sizes in this green and also in red/white. very slick looking golf shoes, though I’ve not worn them.

They alsohave other footJoys on sale (inclding the athletic golf shoe in the sameprevious post fromlast June) but none so good looking.  I might just get myself a pair for parties!

As readers may have noticed, I’ve got a bit behind at Golf Shoes Blog recently.  I saved this picture of the range of Footjoy Sports golf shoes and made no notes…

Meantime, they look what we used to call “snazzy”.  Obviously styled for the younger more “sporty” golfer, though I’m sure that when I check the spec, they’ve got all the bells and whistles. (Full grain leather, athletic mesh, 2 yr warranty, Stinger champ spikes, etc)

By the way the FJ site describes these as “crossover” golf shoes.

My contacts at FootJoy tell me in respose to my Golf Shoes Blog query (FootJoy Golf Shoes Or Not?) “Ian is most certainly wearing FootJoys! He is pretty much exclusively wearing our new FJ ICON asymmetrical pattern and recently received a large order of custom MyJoys which he wore last week to win and is wearing again this week”.

And they sent me the link to this video which shows not only Ian’s wardrobe but (stay with it for the second half) his collection of gold shoes.many are gathering dust (he should charity auction them?) bt all the new boxed ones are FootJoys in hisown colour schemes.  Could you ask for a better spokesman for Icons?I doubt it…

As a PS to the earlier query about who’s golf shoes Ian Poulter was wearing in Singapore – blow us all down (especially as we had a mini tornado here this week)… he goes and wins it and well bloody done to him!

And onlyoneof the hundreds of stories had the grace to mention his “pink golf shoes”, though they looked oxblood and pink to me.  And the day before he had white ones on that looked like they could have been FootJoy Icons which is a waste of the any colour golf shoes concept.  Any way they must have done him good, because he never slipped up in Singapore.

Having read that Ian Poulter had seven pairs of golf shoes at the last tournment; I asked the question of why and what.

I went to the FootJoy sites to check up and the best that I could find was that he was talking to them last year. Maybe I’m missing something or for all my practice, I still can’t find my way around a website, but I’m sure that it should be more positive if he is in the stable. Who knows…  The chaps at FootJoy will hopefully put me right.

The Golf shoes  are Footjoy SynRG golf shoes as seen before.  I’m sure that FootJoy would like this picture as it emphasises the “tri-lateral stability frame”.  (PS I have been corrected by a contact at FootJoy who tells me that these are DryJoy golf shoes.  But then I’ve always been a bit confused by DryJoys and I didn’t before the above picture, have a photo of the sole.)

I like the picture because it’s a good picture and I like the “treatment”.  I also like the fact that when I asked if I could use it, the photographer was delighted.

Following the news about the AQL  being the best selling golf shoe in the UK, the same source gave out the other shoes in the top ten in Europe.  Amongst the list was the FootJoy Lopro which has climbed to be the eighth best seller since it’s launch in January.  Now I found a ladies’ Lopro no trouble; as seen here in crimson snake print & white (”Smooth”) which have a retail  RRP of  $110/£67.50

With FootJoy claiming this success story for the “sporty and ultra-comfortable shoe “, I thought I’d find the men’s on too but then I hit a confusion. I think (and this is an educated guess) that thegolf shoes in the US are not called Lopro but “Athletic” as the picture below and this features a Lopro last.  Maybe this is the Lopro in Europe?  It looks like the brother to the ladies’ golf shoe.

Both are obviously designed for the younger, more casual golfer.

PS I’ve found the UK mens Lopro which is the bottom picture.  RRP £75.  It looks to have some design variations but is still a close relative.  Personally I like this styling a lot – especially this one with the green.  There’s other colours including red but thee’s also another with a rubber coloured last which looks very good too.

Apparently they are the FootJoy AQL golf shoe and to my shame Golf Shoes Blog has only mentioned in passing once!  Information from the European Tour PGA website (released by FootJoy mind) says that FootJoy is indeed the world’s No. 1 golf shoe.  The top table of golf shoe sales in Europe has FootJoy in the first four places and they have over 50% of the UK market.  According to the Golf Datatech UK retail audit, the next brand has only 14.8%. Another three places in the top ten are also FootJoy.

The AQL golf shoes come in quite a few colours. I’m showing the white with copper “smooth” style which I think is suede/nubuck or similar.  I think these are the most attractive.  In the UK they’re all £65 or thereabouts, unless you can find them discounted.

The report says that the “high profile ambassadors like Padraig Harrington and Rory McIlroy showcasing the brand on Tour” help FootJoy no end.

The AQL® remains the UK’s favourite golf shoe with 17.4% share, (followed by the DryJoys® golf shoes with 8.9%.)  The list below covers the top ten. the fact that the “competitor models” are not named indicates that the story originates with FootJoy!
